Axel Peeck
Axel is a Registered Architect with extensive experience in Architecture and Interior Design for high-end residential and hospitality projects. He is also a Property Developer, Investor and Joint Venture partner with 35+ years construction industry experience, so you could say he has all his bases covered! His projects range from a smaller garage extension, right the way through to a $100M+ Resi / Mixed Use Development.

This month, we're bringing you a VERY special double presentation by Axel Peeck from MAP Property Developments.
Axel brings his wealth of knowledge in the Property Development space both as a former Architect and now as a Property Developer working on his own projects, and he is going to walk you through start to finish every stage of the building process from concept to completion.
As most Developers know, as soon as you add a build element in your projects, they seriously become all that more complex. From initial concept designs, floor plan reviews, development designs, construction drawings and the tender process, & ongoing review of the construction process itself, the Architect's role is only done at project completion.
Axel will also be sharing one of his own deals which is a real life case study into the design & tender process where he'll be sharing his own key tips & tricks for one of his Townhouse projects.

'Real Deal' Presentation
Then Axel will be sharing a real life case study on building design and the tender process for his very own 4 Townhouse Real Deal in Adelaide.
Based in the Campbelltown Council, this 701m2 block zoned Residential - Regeneration Policy Area 3 was a great example of how Axel was able to use his years of experience to push through the twists and turns of this very interesting development.
After a nice & smooth initial acquisition, the design and tender phase was completed almost all without a hitch, but then things just started to go a little south from there unfortunately...Eeek!
To start...as many Developers find...the Council approval process was painfully slow and arduous! Topping this all off, the neighbours interjected by objecting to the development and the build over boundary...FUN times (not!).
After a few interesting negotiations, Axel and his team received approval to proceed, but it wasn't long before a few nasty issues cropped up, including some surprise Council assets found on site, surprising to both the Council (and to Axel) as Council didn't know they had any assets on site (what...?!). And then a burst water main on the street caused a further flurry of inconvenience as you would expect.
So, what's next I hear you ask...the Builder...and for that, you'll just need to come along to hear more!
This one has all the prickly bits, which yes are incredibly stressful at the time, but are often the best learnings, and of course the best learnings for others in the community, so Axel is going to share the full grizzly 'tale' for you all, and more IMPORTANTLY how he used his wealth of experience to tackle each of the issues head on!
