Jacinta McHugh
Married with a 13-year-old son, Jacinta is an RPA Developer in real life but design and property is her real passion. She purchased her first investment property at 20, later renovating and selling. Jacinta then purchased a 1/2 acre vacant block in Marysville, eventually relocating a gorgeous Californian Bungalow and completely renovating to use as a luxury Airbnb. Jacinta’s latest project is a commercial splitter block in the heart of Marysville from where she will run a 'Kombi' caravan park on one lot and build up to 10 Airbnb's on the other. With vacant land next door to the current Airbnb, she aims to split into 2 and build a 3x2 on each lot. She also just purchased a Kombi Keg franchise!

2000sqm vacant land, GRZ1 Zoning, Marysville VIC - Murrindindi Council, Victoria
Have you ever considered doing a REGIONAL project? and wondered if all the roads leading to the bush REALLY are paved in GOLD?
For Jacinta McHugh, that road turned out to be a little rocky…
She made all the right moves, stacking strategies on this vacant lot – BUT…
- Delays getting building permit for the removal house
- BAL12.5 increased to BAL29 adding significant cost!
- Delays in building due to COVID and lack of choice in remote location
- Delays with tiler who took 4 months!
- Couldn’t get bank loan so had to use builder finance - very exxy!
- Difficulty getting refinanced as they thought it was a mobile home rather than normal house
- Valuation came in very low due to lack of sales in Marysville.
- Couldn’t pay my Mum back - very, very stressful!!!
- COVID! Couldn’t travel to Regional - very difficult to furnish 11 bed luxury house and complete landscaping etc.
- COVID Lockdowns - over $70k worth of Airbnb cancellations!!! Ouch!!!
Despite the trials and tribulations Jacinta experienced, she completed this development AND still has more to come with this project!
